Compression Test

This test to EN 826 is for determining the behavior of mineral wool under compressive loading. The test specimens are cut out so that their footprint is at right angles to the compression direction in the envisaged product application. The methods used for cutting the specimen must not change the original structure of the product.

The test requires a materials testing machine suitable for compression tests in the necessary force and travel range, plus two very stiff, ground, square or round compression platens with a lateral length (or diameter) at least as great as that of the lateral length (or diagonal) of the specimen to be tested. One of the two platens must be fixed, the other movable and, if necessary, provided with a centrally mounted ball joint to ensure that the force is only applied vertically to the specimen. Deformation is measured via the crosshead travel encoder.
